_No, and sort of, yes. No, in the sense that the site is built online, using WebsiteTonight templates and their server-side program(s). The "yes" part is not much, but you can copy any special html you have added,  write down the color (hex) numbers of your text, and use this info to help speed your rebuild elsewhere . . ..

_No, and sort of, yes. No, in the sense that the site is built online, using Weebly templates and their server-side program(s). But you can use an archive copy (see Archiving Sites in Categories listing, below) of your site to aid in rebuilding another site.
After archiving your site, open the zip file and you will find a treasure trove of useful things:
Uploads: click into the nested folders until you reach your files. Every thing that you ever uploaded to your site will be in here, in both its original form and any versions Weebly saved in an altered form. Most files will not have their original file names . . ..

_It's very easy. In your site editor, make sure you're on the SETTINGS tab, select ARCHIVE/UNPUBLLISH. Select "DOWNLOAD YOUR SITE AS A .ZIP ARCHIVE." Wait a bit, and you will be prompted to save your zip file to your computer.
An archive is helpful if you make a drastic mistake in some part of your existing site. You can't re-upload it to weebly, but you can . . .

_I don't understand the deep inner-workings of Weebly's servers or programming, but every once in a while, things just stop functioning.
Before getting clicky and frustrated, close out and re-enter the weebly editor via the blue ENTER button.
If just closing out doesn't help, close out, log out, and log back in.
Usually, that solves the problem without making things worse by . . .

_Yes to all. The captions are the sort that runs on the top or bottom of the image in a dark translucent strip. But there is a feature to add links, and you can re-order, add and delete images any time you like, so those are nice things to make up for the caption limitation . . ..

_1) Make sure the title of the file is something you want to see on the site.
2) Go to MULTIMEDIA, select FILE and pull the icon down to the area on the page you'd like the link to be.
3) Click UPLOAD NEW FILE and on the panel that pops up, enter the words you want viewers to click to download the file. Also on the panel, choose LEFT, RIGHT or CENTER.
4) When you have things how you'd like, click UPLOAD NEW FILE; select your file from your computer, click OPEN and the file will upload.

_Most website builders offer swatch palettes with a rather garish selection of "web safe" colors. Weebly is no different, except, thankfully, they let you enter your own colors, too.
Since computer monitors are much more sophisticated than they were when that "web safe" distinction was made, you can choose other, more subtle colors for your site with confidence. The next thing is how to find the codes for the colors . . ..

_There are three places within the Weebly interface to change text colors:
1) under the DESIGN tab at the top of the page, where you decide the format of your SITE TITLE, PARAGRAPH TITLE, PARAGRAPH TEXT, and LINKS. Clicking on the color swatch will lead you to a swatch palette.
Down at the bottom of the swatch palette, there's a white box where you can type in a hex code for a custom color. It must have a hashtag (#) followed by a code of six numbers and/or letters following it. For example, the hex code for black, is #000000, the yellow color used on this page is #CC9933. Type in your code and select OK.
2) Select any text within a text block, and click on the A with a red underline to select a swatch color or type in your own custom color. The method is the same as above.
3) for those familiar with CSS coding, under the DESIGN tab at the top of the page, there is a downward-facing tab on the far right labeled EDIT HTML/CSS. Clicking on that will take you to a split screen editor, where you will be able to change the site's CSS and see a preview of your changes before committing them with the SAVE button.

__(This post has been altered to reflect the improved column-building interface. Weebly keeps making great new improvements, darn them!)
1) Make sure you're on the ELEMENTS tab, select the MULTIPLE COLUMNS layout icon, and drag it to the content area of your page. You can adjust the width of the columns by touching the vertical bar(s) and once you get the <> arrow, sliding them/it to the right or left.
2)  If you want more columns, hover over the blue bar at the top of the section and select the number you wish. Slide the vertical bars to adjust your column widths. Want more than five columns? Select four columns in your first section and pull down another MULTIPLE COLUMN section, then choose what works for you.

_1)  If you've selected a theme that has a generic header image and want to replace it, first click on the header image and an orange EDIT IMAGE button will appear. Click that and take note of the Header size listed on the upper left-hand side of the page. (It will be listed in "px," or pixels, but if you don't have a photo editing program which can measure in pixels, use a ruler and measure the dimensions directly on the screen.)

    Website Template FAQs

_My clients tend to be owners of small businesses, writers, illustrators, and artists who need to update their sites frequently.
A template site is easy to update. It frees you from having to depend on someone else to make changes. When someone asks what I'd recommend, these days I say, "Switch over to a template website and customize the theme to get rid of the cookie-cutter look."
