I was lucky to get to do the cover illustration as well as its design, but D. August has done the real work — excellent writing. She's a longtime member of my online writing group and even her first draft blew me away with spot-on voices of three very different, very realistic main characters.

I am the lucky one! To have the talented Siri Weber Feeney illustrate my cover is beyond fantastic. I'm incredibly excited about her vision of Jake, and have really enjoyed the process as well as the product.

On top of that, I got her expert editing advice on SYNAPSE. Don’t let her fool you, though. That “spot-on” first draft was not so much a first draft as a first sharable draft.

Thanks again, Siri!

Okay, I cried! I am so excited for Dawn and Siri! I'm proud to say I'm part of our online writers group. And I'm here to tell you Dawn is indeed a fantastically, wonderfully, great writer. Synapse kept my attention the whole way through, and I am not normally a reader of Science Fiction.

Great job, Siri and Dawn. This book will sell a lot of copies. I just know it!

I tip my hat to you both.

Thanks, Dawn and Jean Ann.

It was such a treat to do this project. How often does a cover artist/designer get to read the whole book before starting — plus admire the writing?

Dawn is a gifted writer and in this book, she juggles three very diverse POVs like it was something natural she could do at birth. So, while the plot whips you through the book, it's the people that stick in your mind long after you're done reading.

I felt I knew Jake and, having a teenager of my own, I certainly had a good idea of the look he'd give to the world. I thought his stare would be a challenge to the viewer and that it would show up even when the cover was a tiny thumbnail on the screen.

I agree the look on Jake is a challenge to the viewer. Fits Jake perfectly.

Can't wait to get Dawn's book in my hands.
