This last week, I completed my first repeating pattern! It's for the background of a customized weebly website for Maggie Kendis, a fine artist who does individually hand-painted linoleum block prints.

I was talking with the artists in my illustrators' group run by Carol Heyer, telling them about a $400 program I'd found that helped with constructing repeat patterns. (Because I was worried I'd need it). Kat McDonough said something like, "It's easier than you think. Try it."

So I did. And it was.

This isn't the full repeat, but it's enough to get the feel for the pattern. I used Maggie's signature from one of her prints and kept the pattern colors very subtle, so they didn't interfere with the important stuff on the website — her artwork!
